NATURO will study how quality of life can be increased for marginalised groups, by use of nature.
Building on three recent research projects, a strategic framework for capacity building and empowerment of local government and civil society stakeholders will be developed by co-creating Nature-based Solutions (NBS).We will re-develop existing urban NBS in small-scale, local, co-development interventions: Micro Urban Living Labs (MULLs).
The MULLs will be established in three European cities, implemented by the local governments, supported and evaluated by researchers, social innovators and policymaking experts from the three countries.
This will support replication and transferability, thus helping to mitigate inequality in access to NBS across Europe. The expected outcome is an empirically tested framework that local governments can use in NBS planning and management to co-create long-term changes in local governance processes and policymaking, across different user groups. As PI, SLU leads WP5 (project management).
Further, SLU has the responsibility for WP2, establishing the MULLs, performing primary stakeholder analysis and co-developing future visions.
Living Cities will assist SLU in project management and lead WP4 focusing on co-learning and transdisciplinary production of knowledge, as well as research communication. Tyresö municipality will host one of the three MULLs. The three Swedish partners have also collaborated in the ParkLIV project on which NATURO is based.
