Grant Description

AI-Controlled Micro FTX with Macro EffectsOr, data-driven optimization of decentralized ventilation units (not ceramic)Older buildings often lack proper ventilation and energy recovery systems, which poses a major challenge for society´s adaptation to sustainable energy use.

Radicair has developed a decentralized ventilation system that uses small units placed in several rooms to continuously both ventilate and recycle energy efficiently using rotating heat exchangers.

Each unit has a continuous flow in and out of the building, driven by centrifugal fans in each direction, also allowing the use of fine filters.Decentralized ventilation systems with fan control in both directions provide a high degree of control over ventilation, and data-driven optimization capabilities enable tailored ventilation based on presence and other factors.

Examples of functions are equalizing the temperature in all rooms in a house or apartment, or making maximum use of temperature differences outside to, for example, supplying air from the sunny side during Winter and the shady side during Summer. The project aims to explore the potential of collaborative units for decentralized ventilation.

To what extent can the ventilation and indoor air quality in a house or apartment be affected by just the means of flows in and out of the house?

With the help of AI-based control, it is likely to improve both air quality and energy efficiency without necessarily compromising any building regulations.

Expected results include healthier indoor environments, energy savings and the development of new products and knowledge for optimized energy use. This project is a pilot project to investigate the level of collaboration between units.

In the case of a successful project, continued, future projects should include connecting systems such as heating to the algorithm to optimize energy use in yet another layer. The project will involve the installation of 20 units in clusters of at least 2 in different buildings to collect data to train algorithms to optimize ventilation based on selected parameters.

The project focuses on IoT and intelligent control and making ventilation a user-friendly experience that simultaneously reduces costs and gives buildings the least possible impact of unwanted moisture. The project focuses on decentralized ventilation with Radicair´s decentralized ventilation units, AI-driven optimization and data collection to improve indoor air quality and energy efficiency in different building types.
