Purpose and goal:
Chronic kidney disease is a growing health problem, where socially vulnerable people are disproportionately affected and treatment options are severely limited. Today´s methods for kidney diagnostics are old and largely based on qualitative and manual analysis of microscopy images. The aim of this project is to use new methods for tissue preparation and super-resolution microscopy within the spinoff company Magnephy AB to help pharmaceutical companies quantify the effects of drugs and in this way drive the development of individualized precision medicine.
Expected results and effects:
Magnephy AB´s objective is to offer better and more quantitative methods for tissue imaging to pharmaceutical companies, which enables faster and more accurate evaluation of drugs. Our methods also provide an increased understanding of which biological mechanisms and/or individual patient factors control the effect of the drug. This puts pharmaceutical companies in a better position to quickly find drugs that can slow or prevent the progression of kidney disease.
In this way, Magnephy AB´s vision is to contribute to fewer patients being affected by chronic kidney disease. Approach and implementation:
A systematic analysis of the commercial potential for Magnephy AB will be carried out. This includes, among other things, an analysis of the potential available market, as well as which part of this market Magnephy AB can be expected to reach. In addition to this, necessary measures will be taken aimed at protecting intellectual property through patents or by other means.
These steps will put Magnephy AB in a better position to bring in larger investors in order to scale up the company and thus increase the opportunities for further technical development to benefit drug development.
