Purpose and goal: Realising a prototype of single crystal (SX) superalloys after AM Expected results and effects: With the invention, as a prototype coming from this project, the following effects will be possible: 1- Five to ten times longer life of the turbine blades compared to typical AM components.
2- Possibility to increasing the operation temperature environment of turbine blades and hence reducing the fuel consumption in jet engines and gas turbine.
3- For the first time, possibility of repair of SX turbine blades, eliminating a high amount of material waste and energy use from the overhaul of a plane engines. Approach and implementation: The project will be implemented using the following efforts: 1) Developing an SX hardware module 2) Developing parameters for a controlled SX generation
