Purpose and goal:
- During the project, the company has established contact with 4 potential customers. The company has adapted the product to each customer. To varying degrees, trials have begun and results of these will be ready during the fall 2024.
- The company has established contact with 3 pulp mills and 3 other sources for organic fibers that have proven suitable for the company´s treatment. - The company has drawn up a business plan for the next 3-years with a focus on the next 12 months. - The company has optimized the recipe with a focus on essential parameters.
Expected results and effects:
The company has succeeded in developing plant media based on fibersludge, straw and wood fiber that does not affect the plant negatively but has the same good growing conditions as peat.
Given that one ton of peat generates 2 tons of CO2 equivalents, even the company´s plant media can act as a carbon sink. Today´s replacement fibers can only replace peat up to 50% without negatively affecting the growth of the plant. Allogro´s product can replace peat in a substrate to 100%, which can enable significantly positive effects on CO2 emissions in the long run. Large-scale trials remain.
Approach and implementation:
The project has been carried out through work in 3 work packages where one is administrative, one is focused around customer and product and the last has been focused around supplier, production and logistics. Mainly the two latter packages have had to interact in order to optimize the product for what the customers are asking for. In terms of the company meeting potential customers, interest has increased and the company has even held a number of team meetings with interested pulp mills in Brazil and Canada. The company´s view is that it has a good basis for the next step
