Room4water aims to link spatial planning, risk management and climate adaptation with nature conservation through cross-sectoral and cross-boundary cooperation within a case study watershed, with the overall aim of working towards a shared vision on creating space of ”making room” for both river flood water and people.
We will do this by addressing the transition capacity from a territorial perspective of the Nissan River Floodplain, SW Sweden, along with its network of societies, and transport infrastructure.
Transition capacity will be explored from three key aspects: Governance transition capacity (WP2); Community transition capacity (WP3); and Land-use transition capacity (WP4).
This will be merged into a set of principles for successful implementation of cross-border collaborations and room for the water strategies, supported by narratives and storytelling to engage and educate (WP5).
WP1 concerns project management.Room4water is a transdisciplinary research project within natural, environmental, and social sciences, as well as health, economics, and civil engineering. It is run in close collaboration with Jönköping County Administration Board, two hubs for cross-border collaboration.
The project’s objectives are supported by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the Swedish Transport Administration.
