The circular car

Purpose and goal:

The project The circular car aims to support new and established actors in efforts to jointly accelerate the car industry’s transition. The project goals are to develop organization-specific action plans that support the transition of the whole value chain and to start implementing measures from these plans.

Expected results and effects:

With a systemic approach and engaged actors from the entire value chain we consider it possible to accelerate the circular transition. The effect can be to enable necessary and disruptive changes to meet current and future climate and environmental challenges, both national and international, and to reduce resource vulnerability and resource challenges.

The project provides opportunities to develop concepts for a future passenger car fleet that is adapted for high utilization rates, for long use and for which recirculation of products and materials is standard practice. Approach and implementation:

The circular car holds a solid consortium with partners from all parts of the car value chain including design and product development partners, car manufacturers, suppliers, car retailers, car part retailers, car accessories manufacturers, remanufacturers, car dismantlers, recycling partners, trade associations, and strategic partners related to the circular customer side. Additionally, the consortium includes research partners, insurance companies, and IT/data companies that aid circularity.
