The aim is to increase knowledge about plastic as a material, and how plastic can be part of a circular economy - by communicating research about plastic via an exhibition.
The research is carried out by the STEPS program (led by Lund University since 2016) and is characterised by its interdisciplinary approach and industry collaboration.Target groups: 1. Architects, interior designers, designers, industrial designers and students at Konstfack. 2. The plastic and furniture industry. 3.
Interested public.
These groups have power to not only influence, but also lead change, and also include the public, who need increased knowledge. The choice to communicate via an exhibition stems from the fact that target group 1 themselves work within creative practices, and on the fact that art can evoke feelings and thoughts.
New and deepened perspectives can be given, in a way that other communication doesn’t to the same extent. The exhibits are created by architects/designers, based on STEP´s research.
They will show at Form/design Center, Lund Sustainability Week, Plastic Technology Fair, Southern Sweden Design Days and Stockholm Furniture Fair.
Talks are organised to convey knowledge and create dialogue.Impact: After completion, the target groups´ increased knowledge should provide new perspectives in architecture and design processes as well as in the public´s view of plastic, something that can lead to a lower and more sustainable use of plastic, as well as more circular systems.
