This project aims to disseminate the research frontier on biodiversity (the variety of life forms on Earth such as plants, animals, micro-organisms and their genetic diversity in different ecosystems), and more broadly natural capital (the total value of ecosystems, including everything they provide for people and society, such as clean water, pollination, climate regulation, and resources such as wood and fish).
Today, the majority of the mobilization efforts around the environment are focused on climate, but research shows that biodiversity and natural capital are also absolutely crucial to maintaining the balance and functionality of the Earth´s ecosystem, which is fundamental to our survival and well-being.The project will synthesize the research frontier on biodiversity and natural capital, and hold training for 20-25 key decision makers within Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs).
This target group is chosen due to their potential large impact.
Our ambition is for them to put biodiversity and natural capital higher on the agenda, implement new tools and increase pressure to update regulations. The project has a unique combination of competencies: leading researchers in the field of focus and strategy consultants who are specialized in synthesizing complex information into easy-to-digest material for “executive audience”.
The timing and opportunity to present across several MDBs is optimal for a high impact communication effort.
