Purpose and goal:
The purpose of the project is to demonstrate that residual stresses in otherwise inaccessible geometries can be measured with neutron diffraction. The goal of the project is to demonstrate the effectiveness and versatility of neutron diffraction to address critical issues, with the aim of exploring the potential for integration of large-scale plant experiments into the product and process development at Volvo.
Expected results and effects:
A partial result is the production of relevant measurement data for two specific relevant cases, but the long-term expected effect is an increased industrial use of large-scale infrastructure. This results in a more efficient and accurate product/process development. Approach and implementation:
Two particularly challenging and relevant cases have been selected, and for these residual stress profiles in critical locations will be measured using neutron scattering (preliminarily at the ILL in Grenoble). An analysis approach will be developed jointly with Volvo, based on specific needs and wishes
