Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

ShareTex delivered dutifully on all milestones agreed with the steering group in both stages of the project and the most important of them all is the verification of promising unit economics for both cellulose pulp and sugar. ShareTex could verify that production costs in both processes are similar to current market prices, which is uncommon for technologies at this stage of development.

This means that the business models are sufficiently promising to conduct the verification of the technologies at pilot scale. Expected results and effects:

The activities in the project, together with other projects, helped ShareTex to secure the financing require to conduct a pilot project with a potential customer. ShareTex has signed a memorandum of understanding with the forestry company Ence with the aim to construct a cellulose pulp pilot in Spain, which is clear and concrete proof that ShareTex fulfilled the expected outcomes of the program

Approach and implementation:

ShareTex conducted the project in two stages, during which different go-to-market risks were addressed in collaboration with other stakeholders in the value chain. Stage 1 focused primarily on technical risks, while stage 2 focused on commercial risks and, more particularly, on the estimation of the unit economics for each of the products in the scope of the project
