Researchers Grand Prix

Purpose and goal:

The purpose is to increase researchers´ interest and ability to present their research in an easy and interesting way. The aim is to stimulate researchers to participate in dialogues with the outside world, increase the public´s interest in research and the research profession, highlight the importance of researchers communicating their research and contribute to more meetings between researchers and the outside world.

The competition also wants to contribute to giving research communication higher status and more attention, as well as show the breadth of Swedish research. Expected results and effects: The Researchers´ Grand Prix 2023 achieved the following:

- Provided 36 researchers with individual coaching in how to communicate their research in a simple and engaging way. The coaching was not only specific to the competition but gives researchers tools that they can use throughout their whole careers. - Attracted an audience of at around 500 people, a majority of whom were high school students.

- Inspired researchers to get involved in research communication and interest young people in the research profession. Approach and implementation:

In the Researchers´ Grand Prix, researchers compete in presenting their research in four minutes. The audience and an expert jury together decide the winner. In connection with the science festival ForskarFredag, 5 regional competitions were organised. The winners of each semi-final

advanced to the final in Stockholm on 23 November. In addition, one finalist is selected via an open online competition where researchers can submit a filmed short presentation. All contestants in the regional competitions and the final receive coaching in presentation skills by a presentation coach.
