Purpose and goal:
The project aims to carry out preparatory and start-up work for the standardization of energy measurement and energy evaluation of boats up to 24 meters. The overall aim of the work is to stimulate the development of more energy-efficient boats, to the benefit
for the environment, energy supply, customers and consumers. The standard is planned to contain test methods that will facilitate design, consumer information and information to commercial operators. The objective includes preparatory and start-up work for an international standard within ISO/TC 188 Small Craft.
Expected results and effects:
The project contributes to speeding up the marine industry´s climate transition, reducing environmental impact such as air and water pollution and supports resource efficiency through measurement methods that show the benefits of energy-efficient and climate-smart technologies. The transition to a circular economy is promoted by highlighting energy-efficient alternatives.
Swedish exports of climate-positive products will therefore be facilitated by the project. The project promotes a sustainable transition nationally and, through an international standard globally. Approach and implementation:
The national committee identifies objective, market need, participant interest, appropriate content and appropriate type of standard document and produces a draft standard. Next is the implementation of formal steps required for international standardization work to start, creating voting, calling meetings, etc. Upon approval, a first meeting is held with experts from different countries.
During the first phase, it is about setting up the organization, assigning roles, creating a project plan, welcome additional participants and starting the development work itself.
