Purpose and goal:
The project involves creation of product passport prototypes for advanced digitalization for three product categories: Li-ion batteries, reusable LED lamps and circular coated frying pans.
The aim is to, together with Micropower, PLS Energy, ONEPan and Brighteco, evaluate obstacles and opportunities at different stages of the value chain with regard to sustainability, traceability, data security and interoperability.
The goal is to develop and evaluate digital product passports that manage the entire value chain for the respective category from manufacturing to recycling. Expected results and effects:
The benefit of this project is to be able to more quickly transform lessons learned from the prototype stage into the implementation of digital product passports. By identifying various difficulties and challenges in the value chain, it is easier to bridge these. As the project works cross-industry, the results will be able to be used cross-disciplinary in other industries.
Approach and implementation: The plan is:
1) Identification and mapping of the product categories´ respective value chains, which includes tracking the products´ journey from the manufacture of components to recycling.
2) Development of a prototype for a digital product passport adapted to each product category, which will facilitate traceability throughout the product life cycle.
3) Evaluation of the tool, including assessment of its effectiveness, identification of possible obstacles or challenges and exploration of the opportunities it can offer.
