Purpose and goal:
The project will prepare the forest and wood industry for upcoming legal requirements, relevant policies and the development of digital product passports with aim of strengthening their position on the European wood product market. Through collaboration and dialogue, an understanding of the market´s eligibility requirements is created as a basis for identifying data needs, as well as a plan for how they can be obtained along the value chain.
An important result is proposals for data protocols for the structure and categorization of data that enable efficient information sharing. Expected results and effects:
Digital product passports and traceability provide the conditions for increased resource efficiency and ensure that wood products come from responsible sources. This strengthens the forest processing industry and creates conditions for circular use of the forest raw material. A consistent information management provides the necessary tools to reach and follow up on businesses´ own sustainability goals.
It also provides a basis for deepened collaboration where the actors along the value chain are given incentives and the opportunity for increased holistic thinking. Approach and implementation:
The project is carried out in close collaboration between the actors in aim of further develop and demonstrate benefits achieved by sharing data within a value chain. In order to create understanding and a common picture of what information is needed from the supplier and production level, a mapping of how laws, accounting requirements and standards are developed is carried out.
Relevant data and a description of the acquisition of these in the management chain will be produced. This information will be categorized and structured in a proposal for standardized data protocols.
