Bibliotek Värmland´s Innovation and Foresight Journey

Purpose and goal:

Aim and objective was to focus on strengthening and anchoring the far-sighted and innovative ability within Bibliotek Värmland. We wanted to create a system in how we are forward-looking and point out a concrete area of the future to focus on. We have fulfilled this through the residency in such a way that we partly carried out a series of activities during the spring that focused on foresight and innovation, and partly created a model that will help us continuously think and work with foresight.

Expected results and effects:

We have created a foresight model that consists of three integrated parts. The model is also anchored and incorporated into Bibliotek Värmlands´s overall strategy, which means that it is not forgotten or overlooked. In this way, we have created a system in making the organization future-oriented through the method and competence support that the model provides.

At the same time, during the course of the residency, we have had the opportunity to give foresight and innovation an extra boost through the activities we carried out. Approach and implementation:

The residence was divided into five phases. The first part of the residency focused on boosting the capacity for renewal and foresight within Bibliotek Värmland through various activities and methods, as well as collecting data which then in the latter part of the residency formed a basis for the work of developing our foresight model including the future issue/area.

A proposal for a model was drawn up in the latter part of the spring and was presented and approved at a board meeting before the summer.
