Arctic makes a difference through leading from the future

Purpose and goal:

The Region Västerbotten/Arctic Design Center experienced that by working with Foresight methods, ordinary approaches regarding planning for the future have shifted to open up a broader perspective on how planning and distribution of responsibilities can be done between municipalities and regions (VB o NB). The Projektet ADC sees opportunities to work with issues surrounding the Policy for Shaped Living Environments and how the Policy can gain greater capacity through the Foresight Method.

Expected results and effects:

Cooperation between regions, cooperation between municipalities. Effects of democratic processes - a more resilient society. Method with advantage can also be used on young people, which leads to increased social involvement. A joint prototyping around how we can jointly develop conditions for the future together where everyone´s voices have equal value. Arctic Design Center believes that Foresight methods build commitment and social sustainability that can create a more equal society.

Approach and implementation:

Arctic Design Center felt that it was the right kind of activities (workshop with Foresight methods) but that administration around bookings and bringing together as many different actors as possible was somewhat larger than expected. Exceeding expectations about the power that was created during the workshops. Arctic Design Center experienced a strong commitment from the participants in the various groups and workshops.
