Purpose and goal:
Supraharmonics are disturbances in the 2 to 150 kHz range and are a relatively new power quality issue. Problems have arisen due to increasingly common power electronics, not least in equipment for climate measures such as solar cells and electric car chargers.
Standardization work takes place on measurement and test methods and accuracy requirements. It is now important to be able to evaluate new electricity quality instruments and the goal of the project is to develop traceable measurement technology, suitable equipment and methods for this. Expected results and effects:
The project is expected to result in traceable measurements, by appropriate equipment and methods for calibrating power quality meters measuring supraharmonics. Work is concentrated on techniques for the sub-range 2 - 9 kHz where the standardization has come the furthest, but aims ultimately to cover the entire frequency range. RISE is then expected to be able to evaluate the electricity quality meters adapted for supraharmonics measurement that are being developed both by Swedish and international manufacturers and in this way support the control of the possible disturbances.
Approach and implementation:
Step 1 is to create a system for generating supraharmonics on 50 Hz voltage and current, including software, completed Q3 year 1. Step 2 is to create a reference system for measuring supraharmonics, including software for measurement, completed Q1 year 2. System development for the frequency span 2 - 9 kHz is taken first, then the frequency range 9 - 150 kHz.
Step 3 is to do accuracy check/analysis of the system, completed Q2 year 2. Step 4 is test of calibration. An instrument manufacturer has promised to lend test objects, completed Q3 year 2. Finally reporting, completed Q4 year 2.
