Innovation Summer Mining and Minerals 2024

Purpose and goal:

The aim is to organize a national summer program where students work on thematic innovation cases with a connection to the mining and mineral value chain. Four students divided into two teams will carry out two innovation cases during 2024.

The innovation cases have either been brought closer to the market or they have been able to be removed, so called "fail fast". The program and the innovation case have been exposed to actors in the industry and in the innovation system. Expected results and effects: The program achieves a number of positive effects for the industry:

- Entrepreneurship among students is developed - Alternatives to traditional careers in the industry are shown - Collaboration between academia and business is made available - Thematically relevant business ideas are tested and prepared for other efforts downstream in the innovation system, such as Swedish Mining Innovations idea competition, or EIT Raw Materials

Accelerator Approach and implementation: The current program will: - Target students at Swedish universities and university colleges. Primarily subjects/ programme with technical or business relevance to the theme. Primarily aimed at students in year three or above - Assemble interdisciplinary teams of students matched with innovation cases

- Run in parallel with three to five other thematic summer programs in an accelerator-like environment where teams meet and collaborate across programs
