Purpose and goal:
"The Food Adventure" aims to transform the food culture surrounding children. Many people believe that children have a specific taste, but children can learn to appreciate many forms of food if they receive proper food introduction during their first year of life. We will develop a digital course that provides parents with knowledge about how infants learn to eat.
The course will also offer insights into preventing food allergies, as the early stages of life are crucial in this regard as well. The goal is for the digital course to be delivered by child health care, reaching out to all parents. Expected results and effects:
The anticipated impact of the project is that parents who learn about how children learn to eat will provide their babies with a greater variety of foods with different tastes and textures. Science indicates that this, in turn, will result in children who are more enthusiastic about food, enjoying both healthy and environmentally friendly options.
Parents will also receive information about the possibility of preventing food allergies by introducing babies to allergenic foods early on. If parents follow this advice, fewer children are likely to develop food allergies. Approach and implementation:
We will develop a digital course on introducing babies to food at ages 4 to 8 months, as well as addressing allergy prevention. The course will be hosted on Learnworld´s learning platform. Child health care professionals in three different regions will then allow parents to test the courses.
We will evaluate the experiences of both parents and child health care professionals with the courses and assess the impact on children´s eating habits. The project will be conducted as research project, with ethical approval.
