Purpose and goal:
"Recipe on Prescription" is a new concept where the goal is for doctors to be able to prescribe evidence-based dietary treatments to their patients. The dietary treatment recipes and information will be delivered digitally. We will test the concept on patients with IBS, a common condition that causes digestive problems. A brand-new study shows that 75 percent of individuals with IBS improve or fully recover by adopting certain dietary treatments.
We will also investigate how policymakers view reimbursement models that make it financially viable to invest in prevention. Expected results and effects:
Our hope is that patients with IBS will be able to change their diet with the help of the digital support we will provide. If they succeed in doing so, many will feel better or fully recover. This, in turn, will reduce sick leaves and prevent secondary issues related to IBS, such as mental health problems.
After the project, we will also have a better understanding of what politicians may consider doing to strengthen the preventive efforts in the regions. The goal is to comprehend how we can develop a business model that makes it profitable to support lifestyle changes. Approach and implementation:
We will use the recipes developed for the previously mentioned study on IBS, which are effective in combating the disease. These recipes, along with information about the diet, will be added to the digital platform for dietary treatments. We will then give IBS patients access to the platform and investigate how they perceive the support and whether it has any impact on the disease.
Additionally, we will design a survey for the politicians governing Sweden´s regions to understand their perspectives on the conditions for working with prevention and lifestyle changes.
