National ATMP coordination

Purpose and goal:

Vinnova has invested in several initiatives within ATMP, but there has been a lack of a national coordination function between these initiatives. There is now a tentative proposal that the parties have worked on but which needs further development. The purpose of the project is to create a long-term sustainable organization and financing of a national coordination function for ATMP in Sweden.

The goal is to get a decision from all stakeholders to create a central coordinating function and be operational before the end of 2024. Expected results and effects:

Through coordinating activities within the ATMP area in Sweden, the country´s competitiveness will be strengthened. More patients will have opportunities to participate in clinical studies and more companies will locate their clinical studies in Sweden. The utilization of existing infrastructure can be optimized, which improves the possibilities for research and development also within academia.

It will get easier for the healthcare system to exchange experiences and learning, which results in more efficient care and more patients can receive treatment with ATMP more quickly.
