A shared digital assisten for the Swedish public sector

Purpose and goal:

The project aims to create collaboration around data generation among public organizations and have a centralized developer organization develop a common digital assistant for text-based tasks across the sector. The project is a response to the lack in the public sector of specific data, competence, computing power and legal prerequisites for advanced language technology. The goal is to create a developer organization, method development, and start development of the digital assistant.

Expected results and effects:

The project lays the foundation for a new way of working with text-based tasks in the public sector, where employees partly benefit from a common digital assistant and at the same time contribute to data generation for continued development and improvement. This has potential to increase the efficiency and quality of text-based tasks in the public sector and frees up time for interpersonal and creative work.

The approach with a joint developer organization also has potential to strengthen democratic values and Swedish digital sovereignty. Approach and implementation:

The implementation will take place in two stages, where this project aims at stage 1, which runs until the summer of 2024. A consortium consisting of 6 municipalities and regions together with AI Sweden and a number of business actors will work in close cooperation and begin the work with data generation, change management and technological development.

A number of use cases will be identified and realized based on the needs of the participants. AI Sweden manages development and offers support to the organizations that generate data and drive change in their operations.
