"Deeptech" development is associated with major risks, both technical and market-related. Validation efforts are made to reduce these risks before major investments and continued work. Of project validated through VFT at KI Innovations, an estimated 70% are "Deeptech". The goal is to validate approximately 5-10 project where the needs for validation are not covered within the traditional VFT program.

Validation activities are carried out according to plan in the projects. Market risks in the projects are reduced as a result of the work, which leads to a proportion of the projects turning into company formation and receiving investments for continued development. The work with VFT deeptech is divided into 3 work packages:
1. Coaching and counseling carried out by the coaching group consisting of 4.5 full-time employees at KI Innovations, one of whom is project manager for VFT. 2. Verification activities take place in collaboration with external experts.
3. Overhead activities are performed by a project administrator employed by KI Innovations, who is responsible for financial follow-up, handling of decision meetings, administration of VFT activities, reporting, business development, and follow-up.
