Purpose and goal:
The aim is to develop innovative gas sensors based on 2D materials, specifically nanostructured MoS2, for accurate detection of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), crucial for health according to the WHO. The goal is to take the technology from TRL 4 to 7 by integrating 2D materials with gas sensor fabrication and scaling, with potential to improve NO2 detection both indoors, in vehicle and outdoors.
Expected results and effects:
The project aims to develop cutting-edge gas sensors using MoS2 for air quality monitoring, advancing the product from TRL 4 to TRL 7. It promises revolutionary sensitivity, selectivity, and scalability, surpassing existing sensors. This innovation addresses drawbacks of current technology, contributing to improved air quality monitoring, particularly for NO2, aligning with WHO standards.
It enhances Swedish industry´s competitiveness, promotes sustainability, and supports Agenda 2030 goals by reducing illnesses from air pollution and conserving ecosystems. Approach and implementation: Five work packages: 1) Prototype manufacturing and interface development, Apr-Aug 2024 2) Testing and optimization, Jul 2024-Feb 2025
3) Fabrication and testing of SMD prototypes, Jan-Jul 2025 4) Industrial validation tests, May 2025-Feb 2026 5) Scalability and commercialization, Jan-Sep 2026
Activities involve chip fabrication, testing, industrial validation, and scalability analysis, aiming for market readiness.
