The world´s forests have enormous potential to contribute to a solution to the climate problems, but forests can only be a source of renewable energy and materials if the growth of the biomass can be maintained long-term over time. For this, forest management needs to be sustainable, which in turn requires inventories that can provide high-quality data. One of the most important parameters from forest inventory is the total volume of trees.
