The feasibility study AI agents in digital twins for cities and regions explores the possibilities of using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve planning and citizen dialogues in urban development.
By combining digital twins with AI technology, tools are created that can simulate and visualize different urban environments and people´s behaviors.
An early pilot study in Gothenburg showed promising results, and now a preliminary study is planned to explore the need and potential for further development of AI agents. In the first phase of the project, goals, methods and delimitations are defined, as well as the identification of experts and stakeholders.
Interviews and analyzes are then carried out to understand challenges and needs on a larger scale. After that, different prototypes must be developed and tested to see how well they meet the identified needs.
Finally, recommendations for further work are delivered based on the insights from the preliminary study. To ensure diversity and inclusion, the project will involve various stakeholders from business, academia, public administration and civil society.
By integrating AI into digital twins, the understanding of different urban and regional environments can be increased and new tools created for more efficient and inclusive urban planning and decision-making.
