Purpose and goal:
The core ethos of the project lies in the fusion of two groundbreaking technologies: generative design and additive manufacturing. By developing generative design´s capabilities within the realm of additive manufacturing, the project seeks to develop a new paradigm in the creation of tailormade lightweight protective systems for blast and penetration.
In the project the next generation Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools for additive manufacturing will be developed, utilized and demonstrated for real innovative multifunctional lightweight applications. Expected results and effects:
The potential of the project is huge within model and simulation driven product development and optimization. The project will develop, implement and demonstrate state-of-the-art methods of G-DfAM. Örebro university will work with TRL development from 3 to 5, and Altair from 5-7. The new intelligent CAE tools developed in this project are missing in today’s standard product development.
The new methods for G-DfAM developed in this project will be a game changer for Swedish industry, in particular industry utilizing additive manufacturing. Approach and implementation:
The project is organized in seven work packages (WP): WP 1 - Project administration, WP 2 - Generative design, WP 3 - Explicit FEA, WP 4 - Demonstrators, WP 5 - Additive manufacturing, WP 6 - Testing and validation, WP 7 - Workshops. Each work package has a responsible leader, which plans the activities of the WP and reports on regular project meetings to the project partners.
The project also has a steering group of members from the project partners and a project leader that organize the project.
