Purpose and goal:
LIDAR sensors provide a 3D map of their surroundings and are widely used for autonomous navigation. In the IntreSeqt project, we will develop a proof-of-concept on-chip integrated FMCW LIDAR circuit with absolute wavelength referencing enabled by an integrated molecular frequency ruler. By drawing upon the precision of quantum mechanics, our miniaturized LIDAR system will provide a level of accuracy unparalleled in current mobile systems.
Expected results and effects:
Our LIDAR chip will find use in lightweight unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for navigation, and target identification, with unmatched distance and velocity measurement accuracy. These capabilities are highly sought after in the vital Swedish defense and automotive industries. Approach and implementation:
IntreSeqt brings together experts in photonic integrated circuits, system integration, and the MEMS industry. The project builds on our previous breakthroughs in integrating silicon photonics, MEMS, lasers, and molecular vapor cells on-chip to enable a step change in mobile LIDAR accuracy.
