Purpose and goal:
Atlantic Quantum is developing quantum processors for fault-tolerant quantum computation. Fault tolerance requires the ability to run quantum-error correcting codes on the hardware, which is the most difficult outstanding problem for the entire field. The company aims to build hardware with superior performance and thereby unlock the disruptive potential of quantum computation when applied to use cases of relevance to industry, such as materials and chemicals.
Expected results and effects:
Within this project, Atlantic Quantum will develop a superconducting quantum processor subsystem prototype capable of quantum-error detection. This circuit can be used by developers of quantum computer technology who themselves lack access to in-house high-quality devices. We will use the product developed within this project as a basis for scaling up our quantum processors toward fault-tolerance. We will have validated the market potential of our products.
Approach and implementation:
We will conduct process development, fabrication, and testing of our quantum processor prototypes in Göteborg, in Atlantic Quantum’s own laboratory and through contracts with Chalmers University and Chalmers Next Labs. Part of the project funding is by in-kind cost match from Atlantic Quantum.
