Purpose and goal:
The purpose and goal of this project are to advance the development of TWPAs for use in superconducting quantum computers, specifically aiming to transition these devices from a technology readiness level (TRL) of 3 to TRL 7. Conducted at Chalmers University within the WACQT program, it aims to transform state-of-the-art research on Josephson junction-based TWPAs into commercially viable solutions.TWPAs are critical for achieving the necessary signal-to-noise performance in quantum computer readout circuits, essential for operational quantum computers in the next 5-10-years.
Expected results and effects:
The expected result and effect of this project are the development of TWPAs supporting extended frequency bands (2-12 GHz), creation of efficient room-temperature electronics, and enhancement of the fabrication process for commercial reliability. It aims to fine-tune TWPA design for better microwave performance and develop test automation solutions for cryogenic conditions.
Ultimately, the project seeks to advance TWPAs from TRL 3-5 to TRL 7, making them commercially viable for operational quantum computers. Approach and implementation: The planned structure and implementation involve multiple work packages (WPs): WP1: Project management to ensure deadlines and outcomes.
WP2: Extending TWPA frequency bands to 2-12 GHz. WP3: Developing efficient room-temperature electronics. WP4: Enhancing fabrication processes for reliability. WP5: Optimizing microwave performance and automating cryogenic testing. WP6: Technical supervision to align with market needs. WP7: Business development including market assessment, IP strategy, and business plan
