Grant Description

Purpose and goal:

ATHENA aims to strengthen the European economy in high-tech imaging, in visible, long-wave IR (LWIR) and very long-wave IR (VLWIR) technologies. In line with both the EU´s Chips Act and the Electronics, Components and Systems Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, ATHENA will develop both new sensors but also their integration into systems.

Magna Electronics Sweden AB will, as the only Swedish party, evaluate ATHENA sensors inside vehicles for monitoring the driver´s state and ability to drive their vehicle safely, as well as detection of children in the car. Expected results and effects:

For Magna, expected effects with the project are access to, and testing of, new European sourced imaging sensors implemented into system concepts for driver and occupant monitoring that can be industrialized for the automotive market. Approach and implementation: Define requirements for vehicle-based driver and passenger monitoring systems.

Equip a test vehicle with a sensor configuration that fits the defined requirements.

Develop test methods for repeatable data collection and testing of sensor and system performance in various situations relevant to daily driving and following the "roadmap 2030" of the European consumer information organization EuroNCAP.
