Degrees of a School Lunch in 2060 - A Mobile Future Prototype

Purpose and goal:

The project aims to highlight the potential of school meals in shaping a protein shift in Sweden´s future food system. It also supports the Innovation Platforms Protein Revolution and Mission Food Environment in initiating dialogues with key stakeholders and exploring the "intention gap" between knowledge and action. The goal is to spark dialogue and inspire action for a protein shift and how we can together build a more sustainable food system that benefits both our health and the planet.

Expected results and effects:

By working with design students from Konstfack to create engaging visualizations of various school meal scenarios, the project aims to increase awareness of the climate impact of animal products and showcase future alternative proteins. Expected outcomes include fostering dialogue, engagement, and practical communication examples for a sustainable protein shift in schools.

The result will be a mobile exhibition, a web platform, and a DO-TANK with discussion materials, reflections, and behavior-changing tools. Approach and implementation:

With the project group´s experts and network, design students are introduced to a "signal week" on the future food system and proteins. Students are guided through a design process to create prototypes that showcase "degrees of a school lunch" in 2060. While they work, the project simultaneously designs a concept for a mobile exhibition with an associated web platform, DO-TANK, featuring discussion materials, target audience feedback, and tools for behavior-changing activities. The exhibition will then be displayed in a suitable location in Helsingborg.
