JODIMACO-EVOLVE - Evolution for Electric Vehicle Advancement

Purpose and goal:

The objective is to facilitate more flexibility in using more sustainable material combinations in vehicle design, while considering their entire life cycle. This will be achieved by delivering reliable and quality-tested methods for joining advanced material combinations, e.g. cast aluminium to high-strength steel.

The goal is to provide joining solutions that are adapted and implemented, from a design for circularity perspective. The joining solutions will fulfil requirements for production robustness, performance and longevity as set by the automotive industry. Expected results and effects:

The effect of enabling joining of climate-neutral solutions (e.g. cast aluminium) is fewer components (reduced material usage, reduced transportation, and fewer joints) and reduced environmental impact from a life cycle perspective through easier recycling (larger component of the same alloy). Flexibility and interchangeability at the design stage is achieved by joining different types of materials (e.g., aluminum components and recycled steel) where the strengths of the different materials are maximized.
