Purpose and goal:
Low cost, abundant raw materials and high energy density are the key requirements for future battery technology supporting the realization of "European Green Deal".
Calcium metal batteries are an option with extremely promising energy density, efficiency and especially with respect to environmental and sustainability measures.
COBRA´s overall objective is to contribute in making the concept reality by developing CRM-free, high-energy-dense, rechargeable calcium metal-organic batteries reaching 350 Wh/kg at the cell level. Expected results and effects: Expected effect: Reduced socio-economic risks due to no CRM dependency.
Expected results: Cathodes: >3.5 V and >150 mAh/g. Electrolytes: >99% coulombic efficiency. Prototypes: >1 mA/cm2, >500 cycles and 350 Wh/ kg. Approach and implementation: This an M-ERA.NET initiated project with 6 partners, of which 2 are Swedish, with 6 work packages planned over 3-years.
