successful protein shift in schools–Prototyping a norm change tool kit towards alternative proteins

Purpose and goal:

The project´s objective is to create and test a prototype of a toolbox to promote the transition to alternative proteins in school meals. The aim is to engage students, parents, educators, principals and meal staff in this protein shift through activities and materials that increase knowledge and commitment around sustainable protein choices. Through inclusive working methods, the toolbox should enable measurable change and be able to be used by other municipalities and actors to accelerate the protein shift and contribute to sustainable development

Expected results and effects:

The project is expected to lead to increased knowledge and acceptance of alternative proteins among students and school staff, which should result in a reduced environmental impact from school meals. By implementing and testing the toolbox in schools, the project will provide insights into how best to implement the protein shift in school environments.

This should lead to practical recommendations and a tool that can be spread to other municipalities, which accelerates the protein shift and contributes to sustainable development and the fulfillment of climate goals Approach and implementation:

The project is divided into several work packages. First, knowledge and experiences about protein shift in schools are collected via questionnaire surveys and interviews to identify obstacles and enabling factors. Afterwards, co-creative activities are held with students, parents and school staff to design the contents of the toolbox.

In the next step, a concept and draft proposal for the toolbox is developed, based on behavioral techniques that facilitate dialogue and goal setting for a successful protein shift in schools.
