Purpose and goal:
The project addresses the growing challenge of textile waste and the need to transition to a circular textile industry. The aim is to accelerate the implementation of secondary textile raw material within the nonwoven industry. The goal is to develop resource-efficient value chains for secondary textiles, keep a dialogue with customers to ensure market-adapted solutions, and investigate advanced use of nonwoven technology to treat textile residual streams that cannot be reused or recycled into new textiles.
Expected results and effects:
Through an increased understanding of the market´s and the customer´s attitude regarding benefits and concerns linked to the use of secondary textile raw materials and nonwovens, we can better understand and develop more resource-efficient value chains. As a results of this, customized prototypes will be developed, which in turn provide more knowledge about how secondary raw materials affect constructions for specific products and their areas of use.
Approach and implementation:
We will map the market´s and potential customers´ needs for and attitude towards the use of secondary textile raw materials, as well as the implementation of this in requested products. By combining existing technologies, new materials and prototypes can be created from secondary textile raw material for a variety of different uses. For this to work on a larger scale, we need to understand the value chain, identify shortcomings and come up with suggestions on how to solve these, which is summarized in a roadmap.
