The conference "Addiction and psychiatric morbidity" will take place in Gothenburg November 14-15, 2024.

The conference is a collaboration between Svenska föreningen för Alkohol och Drogforskning (SAD) and Svensk förening för Beroendemedicin (SfB).

SAD is the largest Swedish society within the field of alcohol and drug-research, with around 250 active researchers working within social and medical sciences. The SfB is a society for physicians working with questions related to addiction.

We now seek financial support from Forte to enable an exchange of knowledge between our two societies.Aim: The aim of the conference is to increase the interaction between research and practice, with special emphasis on addition and concomitant psychiatric morbidity.

The conference will act to support the exchange of knowledge, support multidisciplinary interests, and contribute to increased development within a complex research field that involves both psychological, societal, biological and medical aspects. Scientific angle:  The overall focus of the conference is addiction disorders and concomitant psychiatric morbidity.

Different fields of research will be presented together with discussions regarding clinical praxis.

The latest findings will be presented, and challenges and opportunities in treating this complex group of individuals will be discussed.Outline: Invited speakers within the field of psychiatry, social science, psychology, and pharmacology will present their latest research. The conference also includes panel discussions and practical sessions.

Attendees are also encouraged to present their research with a poster.

Target audience: The conference will be open for everyone, but the target audience are PhD students, researchers, and clinicians working within the field of addiction. Expected number of attendees is at least 100 people.
