Purpose and goal:
Starting and developing companies based on ground-breaking research results (deep-tech) stemming from academic research involves technological- and market risks and requires large capital investments. Together, the project partners have identified a need to further develop existing innovation support models to further strengthen the ability to take deep-tech innovations from the lab to the market, which enables deep-tech innovations to be developed and the commercial conditions to be validated, within the framework of the universities´ activities before incorporation.
Expected results and effects:
The objective of this project is to package 3 possible models that allow deep-tech innovations to be developed within activities of higher education institutions for a longer period of time, before a company is established. This would enable the technology to be developed further up the TRL scale, and for the commercial conditions to be verified in a better way in combination with the development and maturity of Team Readiness Level.
Approach and implementation:
Participating universities have, based on their specific conditions, developed basic proposals for models for how the commercial conditions for deep-tech innovations arising from research can be improved. The models will have two different main orientations: Development of business competence and entrepreneurial ability within the research group/environment (LU and Chalmers)
Completion of the research team by an individual with existing business competence (KTH)
Chalmers University of Technology
