Purpose and goal:
Our goal is to drive significant improvements in industrial production by ensuring consistent application of already established best practices and operational settings. Complex system interconnections often hinder operators from accessing and interpreting critical information, hindering efficiency. In GAIT, we aim to overcome these challenges by leveraging advances in language models and digital infrastructure, applying a human-centric AI approach.
Our purpose is to enable fast, efficient changes in production, accelerating the industrial transition. Expected results and effects:
The project is expected to strengthen Sweden’s industrial base by enhancing information retrieval and decision support in production environments through the use of language models and digital infrastructure. With close collaboration between academia and industry, including Mälardalen University, Hitachi, and Outokumpu, the project will promote faster and more efficient production processes, contributing to the green transition. The outcomes will include pilot installations, scientific publications, and a licentiate thesis.
Approach and implementation:
The project follows a three-step strategy: “Discovery-Engage-Evolve.” First, GenAI use cases are identified and explored in close collaboration with factory personnel, enhancing their understanding and engagement with the new technology. Next, these insights are integrated to increase active participation in the project. Finally, the necessary organizational changes are identified and implemented to ensure successful technology integration.
The project is structured into five collaborative work packages that evolve over time and include prototype testing.
