Purpose and goal: The project is conducted as SME-project within the frames of the Vinnova competence center 2D Tech. The purpose is to build a better understanding of which parameters are important to efficiently incorporate 2D nanomaterials in polymer matrixes to maximize the effects in multifunctional composite membranes.
The goal is to produce composite membranes using materials and methods relevant for three different commercial applications and to benchmark these composite membranes for said applications. Expected results and effects:
The project is expected to result in increased knowledge about the production of polymeric composites reinforced with 2D materials according to industrially accepted methods and standards. It is also expected to provide further knowledge on how the 2D material and matrix can be selected or modified to improve both process and performance properties.
Finally, the results are expected to show how the performance of the materials compares to existing commercial alternatives, which will contribute to future decisions about material and product development and commercialization Approach and implementation:
Equipment and methods to be able to manufacture and analyze polymeric composite membranes will be supplemented/provided. Composites will be made from pure polymers and 2D fabs various graphene products. The membranes´ electrical conductivity, solvent resistance, gas and vapor permeability will be evaluated according to ISO/ASTM standard methods and compared with data for relevant commercial applications.
