Multi-level learning journeys for green and just regional transformations

Purpose and goal:

The project aims to promote green and just transformation through regional innovation policy. It develops multilevel learning journeys, conceptualised as knowledge cocreation processes with policy makers, to better combine and coordinate policies at different levels of governance. Expected outcomes include actionable knowledge about transformative innovation policies in a multi-level context, enhanced experience of and networks for conducting research in interaction between researchers and policy makers, and relevant and timely research outputs.

Expected results and effects:

1) Actionable knowledge about how to embed transformative regional innovation policies in a multi-level context 2) Better understanding of the potentials and limitations of transformative innovation policies at different levels of governance 3) Enhanced experience of organizing research in interaction activities, and in particular learning with actors across levels 4) Improved understanding and networks between researchers and policy makers 5) Relevant and timely research outputs.

Approach and implementation:

The project will start with activating stakeholders for multi-level learning journeys. The researchers will conduct a desk based preparatory research, including a review of the literature, policy documents, and evaluations, and summarize it in a policy brief to pre-circulate to partners. Then, a one-day workshop with policy practitioners from different levels will address multi-level governance processes.

This will be documented by the researchers and key policy lessons will be distilled in a short document. Further need for research or policy action will be identified.
