Purpose and goal:
The purpose of the project is to create tools to improve the sustainability of ICT systems by optimizing energy and resource management to reduce environmental impact as well as capital and operating costs, and to improve the systems´ reliability.
The project objective is to integrate tools from previous project into a resource management solution for relevant ICT industry systems, to develop methods for validating the resource management solution for usability and reliability, and to test and validate the solution for industrial application with a 5G network.
Expected results and effects:
The expected effects of the project are new business opportunities and strengthened cooperation between the project parties: Tietoevry and Umeå University. The collaboration is expected to expand to include new partners. The business opportunities for the validated solution have been identified and documented in business plans. In addition, data sets will be provided as a funding to WARA Ops-gemenskapen.
Approach and implementation:
The first part of the project analyzes use cases and develops a framework for resource management based on existing prototypes. The project further develops the prototypes to meet the needs of the user cases. The second part integrates the framework with the testbeds, tests and analyzes the results.
The third part refines the tools based on data analysis of the results from the previous phase. The fourth part validates the refined tools in real environment and use cases. The project uses environments provided by WARA Ops and by Tietoevry.
