Artificial Intelligence in Textile Waste Sorting and Recycling for Circular Solutions

Purpose and goal:

The goal is to write a detailed research proposal by identifying the critical technology gaps, assessing the different technologies used so far for textile recycling and proposing solutions in focus on current challenges and new EU textile regulations and integrating them into a systematic approach with the use of Artificial Intelligence was successfully established.

Expected results and effects:

The success of the project is expected to have long-term effects by establishing new partnerships in textile recycling and advancing the use of AI in the field. Success at the pilot scale will attract more companies to participate in future research projects, thereby strengthening the research activities.

The academic and industrial collaboration will benefit the society´s well-being, environmental benefits and economic growth. Approach and implementation:

Initially, a brief project meeting was set up regarding the roles and responsibilities of leading different work packages and pilot-scale activities. Depending upon different work packages and respective lead partners, separate meetings were conducted to fulfil the defined sections. Regular updates were provided regarding the tasks to be done with effective deadlines. The partners played an important role in finalizing the research proposal, and the collaboration effectively worked as planned.
