The project will develop a self-assessment scheme as a planning tool for researchers who write applications to external financiers for project with foreign partners. A general challenge is to get the researchers to take more responsibility for a responsible Internationalisation in their specific project at the same time that it should not become too burdensome but instead strengthen the researchers in the collaboration with international actors.

The planning tool is a first step towards finding a way to anchor responsible internationalisation in the practice of research applications. The goal is for the tool to become a self-assessment scheme that already during the planning process supports the researchers´ considerations and creates conditions for the implementation of responsible internationalisation.

The method is to initially investigate through interviews which questions usually arise among the researchers during such application processes. These experiences are then compared with the national guidelines developed as a results of Regeringsuppdraget Ansvarsfull Internationalisering. Against the background of the knowledge obtained, a university-adapted planning tool is then designed to facilitate the application work and clarify various aspects that need to be taken into account in international research collaborations.
