Purpose and goal:
This project aims to develop a new scalable platform for energy harvesting applications based on environmentally friendly electronic components. The platform will integrate an ultra-low power microcontroller (ONiO.zero) tailored for energy harvesting, modules for energy harvesting from radio frequency and solar cells (Epishine), and a supercapacitor (Ligna Energy) for energy storage.
Mounting on a recyclable PCB laminate (Jiva Materials). The new platform will be able to meet the needs of a wide range of IoT applications. Expected results and effects:
The project will address the R&D challenges involved in the integration of the different key system components as well as in the development of standardized modules that can be swiftly customized to different applications.
The new platform will be able to serve a wide range of applications across the IoT and small electronics market verticals. The key outputs of the project will be reference boards and development kits to kick start the new platform, as well as reference designs and prototypes customized and tested for two lead applications: batteryless ESLs and remote controls.
