Grant Description

The overall goal is to improve the quality and access to technical vocational education and training (TVET) programs to increase the alignment between the supply and demand for skilled labor in the market.

This alignment will take the form of partnership and agreements with the private sector creating formal and informal networks, and collaborating on the promotion of technical skills in growing sectors or trades.

The project targets TVET institutions that focus on two target populations: 1) At-risk youth with the minimum education requirements to receive government certified technical degrees and gain formal employment; and 2) At-risk youth who do not meet those requirements but show potential for self-employment or commitment to addressing product and service needs in their communities.

The program will also support RENET, a Nicaraguan alliance for technical training, to become an independent national advocate for TVET and job placement.
