The activity assists the GoG in protecting the basic rights of children with severe disabilities, including the rights to live and receive appropriate health and social care.
Interventions provide technical assistance to the GoG in establishing the small-scale alternative facilities where children with severe disabilities will receive specialized medical, psychosocial and social care.
The activity also works on supporting full integration of the specialized services for children with severe disabilities into the overall system of child care and protection.
This activity will help the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Social Affairs (MoLHSA) of Georgia to complete the design for a 24/7 care center for the most severely disabled children, and will establish at least one model center for up to seven children. Creation of this pilot unit of care is crucial for validating the model and proposing it to the MoLHSA.
