USAID will improve the health and well-being of the earthquake-affected populations living in two districts: Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha.
USAID will improve community water and public sanitation infrastructure; promote hygiene; and strengthen WASH governance.
USAID will form or revitalize water users committees (WUCs) to construct/renovate community based water supply schemes and develop the capacity of WUCs to operate and manage these water supply systems.
USAID will also promote menstrual hygiene management in schools and communities and support adoption of improved hygiene practices in communities.
USAID will engage with local government and the private sector to develop management agreements for ten large scale public toilet facilities along highways or in market areas that are an important element for the attainment of Open-Defecation-Free status.
