Grant Description

This implementing mechanism focuses on government schools in poor urban neighborhoods to improve sanitation facilities and promote the effective use of WASH infrastructure in schools.

This activity contributes to the national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission): Swachh Vidyalaya (Clean India: Clean School) program.

The activity will construct or rehabilitate gender appropriate toilet facilities that, when combined with menstrual hygiene management outreach, will help reduce girls' absenteeism and promote gender equality.

By learning and internalizing healthy practices at schools, students will become agents of change within their communities.

The activity will work closely with the School Education Department, Municipal Corporation, and District Administration at all stages. It will also lay the groundwork for scale up through advocacy efforts and exposure visits.
